Entry & Qualifying:
Players qualify by winning their class in one of the four Belmont low
gross qualifying sessions during the season. Should a qualifier be
won by a player who has already qualified via a previous session, the
next highest finisher will advance to the finals. Should a qualifier
withdraw from the finals in advance of the Tournament of Champions, he
will be replaced by the next highest finisher from the specific
qualifier from which the withdrawing player advanced. The Competition
Committee will decide a player’s eligibility should his class change
during the season and he qualifies in more than one class. The four
Belmont low gross by class qualifying sessions are stipulated rounds.
Players must designate such rounds to the starter prior to teeing off,
and are required to turn in a signed and attested scorecard for the
round. Only one stipulated round may be played per Belmont qualifying
weekend.
Schedule:
See the schedule of weekly events for the four qualifying dates.
The Finals will be played in a foursome for each class with the
foursome setting their own tee time.
Ties:
In the championship, in the event of a tie for first place after 18
holes, the tied players will play off starting at hole #1 and play
each hole sudden death. The winner is the first player recording a
score on a hole lower than each of his opponents. If multiple players
are in the playoff, a player is eliminated when he records a score on
any hole higher than any one of his opponents. Ties for 2nd
& 3rd are not played off.
In the four
qualifiers, in the event of a tie, the USGA scorecard playoff system
will be used (i.e. lowest score for last 9 holes played, and, if
necessary, then last 6 holes, last 3 holes, and then hole-by-hole
starting from hole 18 proceeding backwards).
Tee Markers:
The Championship Class and Class A plays from the black tees; B and C
play from the Blue tees; D from the white tees.
See the “Conditions
of Competition” for this event for additional information.
